Your facts aren't quite straight.

1) I can name plenty of wars that had nothing to do with Atheism.

2) You said WWII had nothing to do with religion. I'd double check that if I were you.

3) The crusades, 9/11, the inquisition... Plenty of people have killed in the name of religion. Even in wars where religion was not the cause, it can still play a crucial role in how they were started, fought, and ended.

@vashcerom Wars would have been fought anyway. Human beings are instinctively violent and will use anything as an excuse to be so, wether it be religious or political issues. The only solution to this problem in the past was the use of religion as a means of taming the masses and keeping them under control, so in that sense religion and the advancement of society act in correlation. It was a useful tool for every Roman emperor and every European monarch.

When you say "more equality" I take it you mean the establishment of a democratic state or republic? Such a thing would have been impossible in the middle ages. Without government in the form of a monarchy, Europe would have been utter chaos. It took the idea of a democratic republic thousands of years to develop into what we now have today: the United States

if religion didn't exist the dark ages would have been skipped to the renaissance giving 1000 years of scientific advances (although this guy proberly thinks science is the devils), there would be more equality since monarchy would have never been given a christdom status, all though those kiddy fidiling papist would not have been protected and juesus christ would not have been cruscified.
