For the Saisiyat tribe, the most significant ceremony is PaSta'ay. The regular PaSta'ay ceremony is held once every 2 years, in addition to a great ceremony in every 10 years. This year, the biennial PaSta'ay ceremony will take place in mid-November, right after the great ceremony in 2006. About a month or so ahead of the ceremony, Saisiyat members from Wufeng, Hsinchu county and Nanzhuang, Miaoli county gathered together to decide the starting date for PaSta'ay. This process is known as papoe'oe, which is one of the most important details for picking the best day for the PaSta'ay. This year's papoe'oe was held on October 4th.
