Pledge to End Racism in Arizona

The human rights crisis in Maricopa County, Arizona is reaching Apartheid-like proportions. The human rights abuses of Maricopa County will multiply nationally if the 287g agreements (collaboration between local police and immigration agents) expand and if the federal government continues to fail to meet its obligations to pass and implement immigration reform with a path to citizenship and political equality. If the 287(g) agreement certifications expand, they will open the door for local police to replicate Apaio's immoral and illegal law-enformcemnt practices without any supervision or oversight. Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano is as equally complicit in the illegal actions. She has given a directive to expedite more agreements. She served as governor for the state of Arizona where the mayor of its largest city, Phil Gordon, requested that the FBI investigate Sheriff Joe Arpaio for the abuses carried out by him and hos posse of thugs.

It would be racist to label all people from a group criminals because of a minority act and then create laws to subjugate them based on that pretense. Sheriff Arpaio has labeled all Latinos criminals because of the color of their skin and their national origin. He's either ignorant and stupid or outright racist. My feeling is he's all that and them some -- and so are his supporters.

Sheriff Arpaio is under federal investigation as we speak for racial profiling and violation of civil rights abuses. My facts are the personal stories of victims terrorized by Arpaio and his racist posses. But, the only fact I need is the very public statement Arpaio made on Lou Dobbs tonight when he stated that he "is honored" to be associated with the Ku Klux Klan. I think that's pretty clear.
