in 82 it was a 2.2l Perkins which is britsh the 83 was a 2.3l mitsu.

it sounds like a Japanese diesel engine but it's not. This is a Ford 2.2-liter 4-cylinder in it.

The ford 2.2l diesel was actually bought from mazda for these trucks. Mazda did not build the motor themselves either, they were built by perkins.
