Ruby's Shower Routine!

A short video os Ruby's daily shower routine; going upstairs to be showered, getting a shower (obviously!), toddling out of the wet room, and finally shaking her funky stuff downstairs (and wetting everyone!)

Hi, ruby is pretty..does she take a shower in winter too? Does it dry up easily?we have an african grey, but im not sure whether to give him a shower in this freezing temperature?

Thank you. Yes Ruby has a shower almost everyday no matter what the season. If it's cold in winter just be sure that wherever your parrot will be drying off is a warm temperature. I have Ruby here drying off in my warm lounge. If you cannot find somewhere warm for your parrot to dry off, then I would not recommend showering until you can. Good luck.

Just a suggestion, parrots secrete oils that they spread over their feathers to protect them. Daily showers, considering that our water has chlorine added, may not be such a great thing for birds, and Ruby didn't really look excited about having a shower. She doesn't open her wings or flap. Have you tried giving her showers twice a week instead of daily?

In my experience with birds, you are not supposed to soak them with water, i let mist run over my cockatoo and he takes care of the rest, he absolutley loves it and you can realy tell he is enjoying it.
