Yeah, I confess since I could not get out to see it.. I covered under my nice warm covers and listened as hard as I could for its whistle :).. Some day I will be out there freezing with all the other railfans.. But I probably will not have a camera.. Just be out for the experience :).,,until then thanks!.. - DNatureofDTrain

I think that it has to do with RR policy, though that's just my guess. Alot of steam excursions have diesels, perhaps they're afraid of the steamer breaking down?

Yep. did you know that I'm in the WSOR yahoo group?

Thanks!

Thank you for posting this, for those of us who were not able to get out and see it. - Dana C. L. "DNatureofDTrain"

You're very welcome. At least if you didn't see it you didn't have to be out in the freezing cold!

They had to have a diesel to go over the UP in Janesville. I will be the pilot engineer Saturday . Looking forward to seeing everybody out and hopefully alot of great videos and photos!

Just curious, what's the reason for needing a diesel, if you know?

I'm surprised at the tow, I would have thought a forward run with just the steamer hauling the two Santa Train coaches plus the caboose. Nice video! The fast shot on the stretch to Milton Jct. is really cool. It looks like they didn't wye it and backed into Edgerton...I suppose this means a forward steam haul back to J'ville/Anderson tomorrow? That makes me a little more enthusiastic to go check it out.

I thought it would have run forward, too, so I was caught off-guard when it left.
