So I wrote song for my bio project (and I got 100%). Also. co-written by Ryan Al-Hage...
Hirschsprung's Disease
It hurts your large intestine
It occurs, yeah it happens
When you're young
And even if your nerves don't work
It happened just before your birth
But it's not because of anything
Your mother did before
Hirschsprung's Disease
It causes constipation and other symptoms like Some vomit and diarrhea
Don't worry about it baby
All you need is some surgery
We'll get you some treatment happily
We'll remove the diseased section
Then attach the healthy part
To your rectum
And if we can't do that
We'll do another thing
We'll cut a hole in you, a colostomy
We'll attach the stoma
To your large intestine
Then you'll be doing number 2 just fine
Hirschsprung's Disease
Yeah, it affects your large intestine
And after your surgery
You'll be just fine
Great job! I'm 14 and have Hirschsprung's Disease! haha

I had colostomy operation done twice and a pull though operation all from me being 18 months old untill I was about 8, I'm now 35, have a little pain from time to time as I suffer bad wind build up but life goes on and I'm healthy. I'd like to thank Great Ormand Street hospital London and Booth Hall hospital Manchester for saving my life and especially to all the doctors and nurses that helped me and continue to help others.

My son was born in 2002, he had complete hirsprunngs throughout his whole entire colon ( Long Segment with Skip lesions) It was really tough in the beginning but not he is about to be 8 years old on June 13th 2010 and he is doing great, No colostomy bags, no hospital visits, he is a perfectly normal child except for the fact that he cant control his bowels when he is asleep. Other than that issue he is growing perfectly fine. I hope your baby has the same progress as my son did. Heather

Great job!!! Not many people know about this horrible disease. Sometimes it can be much worse than a simple surgery. My daughter lost her entire large intestine and 1/3 of her small. She is now 3 and every day is a battle. She almost died. Hirschsprung's isn't always so simple. Sometimes it affects them every day for the rest of their lives.
