dude.. how come karate clubs always practice katas??? I mean katas can't be used in streetfight so why are they still practicing it karates should practice practical self defense and how to protect urself in a streetfight like yaw-yan or muay thai....

just a clarification...what i really meant is that JKA is the only karate organization recognized by the Japan Ministry of Education to spread karate..However, those that broke with JKA who used to be JKA certified instructors are as good and credible as well JKS (O-sensei Asai), Karate no Michi (Shihan Yahara), SKI (Shihan Kanazawa), ISKF (Shihan Okazaki), etc. fyi search JKA Tokyo HQ's website dude.

Karate tournament is not JKA's goal. It's just a tip of the iceberg. I pity you man for your shallow understanding of karate that is is just for tournament or sports purpose.
