No, science fiction is about taking an awesome story with awesome characters in an awesome universe and doing NEW things.
Pocahontas in space is NOT a good sci-fi story.

im getting tired of avatar. Sur it was a good advanture/sci-fi movie, but it wasnt that good. I like T2 and Titanic alot more.

Actually, slavery as a custom was started in ancient Mesopotamia and later used by Africans against other Africans (it wasn't uncommon for ancient Egyptians to keep slaves and they are technically of a darker skin color and African in origin). Whites didn't start enslaving Africans until very recently in history and it wasn't nearly as widespread as it was in places like Egypt. Shorter lived too.

there are some real assholes out there complaining about the story, guess what it's a scify movie, scify are all about taking something familiar and changing it. i guess it's probably the same idiots that downloaded the movie instead of paying to go see it in a imax or theater.

I wouldn't call it a "rip off" since Cameron wrote the script over 10 years ago, it's just a coincidence that other movies have similar plots to Avatar (for instance The last samurai")
