Pigeons and Bird Mites Infestation on 33rd Floor Apartment

Extremely annoying pigeons (air rats) dug a whole in the cement siding if my apartment building and proceeded to build a nest and have babies.

I could deal with the noise but what comes next are the heinous bird mites. *** You can see them crawling on the ceiling in the video but you cannot see any details because they are literally the size of a grain of pepper*** Here is a photo of them: http://www.entomology.wisc.edu/diaglab/03hilite/6_16.html

They either came through the ceiling some how or were blown through the air conditioner (as the birds nests are very close the air conditioners) and infested the whole apartment.

They get EVERYWHERE and are barely noticeable until you try to sleep as they get EVERYWHERE and cause you to itch like crazy. They leave bites which range from mosquito bite looking red rash-like raised areas to bright red pin-prick like moves.

When you scratch them, they are so small they go right through your finger prints and stay on giving you a skin-crawling feeling which makes you think you're going crazy. After a few nights of hardly any sleep you begin to lose your mind.

I have just started trying to get rid of them by washing all my bedding, clothes and furniture. I am hesitant to buy new bedding because I fear they will come back and infest it as well.

So far I have taken a piece of black adhesive tape and used it on my bed and clothes to see how many of these are still around. I plan to buy a vacuum and maybe a bug bomb to see if I can get rid of them.

ANYONE WITH ANY HELPFUL HINTS PLEASE LET ME KNOW

I know the first step is to get rid of the pigeons which I am trying to do. I also have the building's bug spray guys coming to spray the apartment as well.

I just posted this video in case anyone has pigeons (aka air rats) nesting anywhere near where they live, work or sleep knows to eradicate them immediately. I could't imaging I if had to subject children to this as I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Poor people living inside the apartment, i know how they feel. I live in a house and have had these bird mites for weeks. They dont just bite at night they bite during the day too, it feels like those little fuckers are stabbing you with a needle. We can't sleep at night. I caught one today in my stomach area right when it was biting me. The little shit started panicking like hell but i caught it and killed it. Fuck mites!!!!!

hey i have the same problem but its my mums and dads house i live with them and yes i am 14 but heres a good tip get bug killer like raid or some thing good spray round the area witch they comeout off then get a tub of paint and paint the cracks on your celin where they come out off then when its dry spray more bug spray it lasts about 5 years before they come again but if yo want them gone completely get the nest removed and cement the hole up hope that helps :)

Please do not refer to Pidgeons as "air-rats".

If you do not like these birds, that is your prerogative, but do not degrade them as an excuse to be inhumane to them.
