On May 14th, 2008, Congressman Hastings spoke on the House floor in support of the 2008 Farm Bill. Hastings voted for the Farm Bill and voted to override President Bushs veto because the bill provides more support for Central Washington specialty crop growers than any Farm Bill in history. It includes several priorities that Hastings sought, including federal research dollars and trade promotion programs. In 2006, Hastings brought the House Agriculture Committee to Central Washington for a hearing on the Farm Bill so that local farmers, ranchers and agri-businesses could have their voices heard.
