Documentation of the HAWT thesis presented last March 2007 in DLSU-Manila to the Mechanical Engineering Department. Our thesis was nominated for the gold medal, unfortunately we did not get it.

Should be able to produce some usable power from that turbine.

Seriously, guys I am amazed. You guys should do more of these turbines...and maybe help some poor barrios.

Very good work guys keep at it ,looks like you are very close to have your system optimized, once you do that post another video with the results of power output vs.air speed etc.

what's your blade profile and was there testing done to select one ?

We used NREL S823 airfoils. It was selected simply because of the given wind characteristics for the airfoil selected.

Great project guys! What is the minimum wind speed to generate power? How much power does it generate? Perhaps when you perfect your design you can mass-produce them to power homes of families who cannot afford electricity. Hey, I'd buy one if it was affordable!

The minimum wind speed is around 5m/s. That's a very low wind speed for a windmill but the design is far from being perfect. It's a bit too big yet to flimsy. Thanks for the interest though!
We hope to improve the design in the future.
