The myth is that WCW died because its ratings were awful. However as you said its Jamie Kellner put in charge of Turner Broadcasting by AOL Time Warner that killed WCW. Nitro was still the top rated show on TNT but Kellner in an act of snobbery said that wrestling was not the image they wanted for TNT. He killed the show off the air meaning any purchaser of WCW had no place to air the show.
