Hava Platinum HD - 1080i vs 720p vs 480p - Quality Comparison

Let me start by saying to anyone that does not have a Hava. No it does NOT record in HD, it downscales all images to 720x480i, however you can play in HD while recording. The only problem is the Hava does a terrible job at downscaling the images, creating pixelation, especially while in 720p. Which basically defeats the entire point of buying one.

So if you're looking into buying one, take note of this first! If you want nice quality video (recorded) while playing in HD, then do not bother, just wait for something better or if you're rich buy a $600 HD Capture Card. But if you don't care that much about the video quality, think the 1080i quality is good enough, or just can't play in HD to begin with, then the Hava is great. BTW Amazon has good prices for the Platinum, you'll also want to buy some RCA Couplers, a 3 prong for Composite cords, 5 prongs for Component.

As you can see, 720p looks like horse @#$%, also has huge interlacing problems, even though I deinterlaced all footage in the video. 1080i looks OK but still has noticeable pixelation, especially in small text. 480p looks very nice and clean, although a little darker, but that's very easily fixed in editing. You can even adjust that in the Hava Setup/Player so that it records a brighter, more vivid picture to begin with.

i think that this video is the biggest crap ever, looked it on a 1920x1080-led-monitor in fullscreen mode and 480p actually looked the best, what can't be true at all. your cam, your screen or the used program is total crap. Not any person should give a shit on the views in this video.
