Not many of these were ever used by the city. This is a late 50's or early 60's tilt-to-dump model, filmed about 1965

  • That was nice,Wish you could find a clip of that truck packing that would be super sweet!!!

  • It is a rare find because the DSNY's use of Leach product was very short. I seem to get foiled at every attempt to get good footage of a Packmaster in action. This film had none, Another had half the cycle (Sanicruiser). Sheesh! Fifteen minutes of film and they couldn't spare another ten seconds!

  • Thats what we need again three man trucks

  • LOL, what bullshit! that third man never got out of the truck, thats why they were referred to as "sitting bulls".

  • yeah they had 14,000 employees but if you notice it was a three man operation

before they went to a two man truck

  • The men in this video are the real Tier 1

sanitmen who humped garbage in those

heavy metal gorilla cans and never whined like the newer generation of sanitworkers today on the job.

  • 14,000 employees? wow, i saw in a recent video they had 6000 now or something to that number, what a reduction over the years.

  • my dad used to own his own refuse business, he owned a 1970 packmaster and a 1983 sanicruiser, its hard to find footage of these trucks although the packmaster and sanicruiser are only slightly different in hopper size.....good effort in this vid

  • i wonder how many tons those small trucks hold. it probably cant do the 12-13 tons the mack trucks do evryday

  • All this garbage here formed the bottom of the Fresh Kills landfill..too bad that dump is closed now!

  • Wow that's great! Love all the recent posts! 5 stars!!

  • Thanks for your effort it is appericated alot.
