  • @eugenioescobar Thanks for the name brother..Man have you looked at some of these response to my comment? I think you understood why I made it but none of these guys does. One guy goes so far as to point out when Bolin's solo is, all two minutes of it and my point was that Jan hammer is doing all the rest. People rant and rave about Bolins contribution, but almost never Hammer. And I forgot to say that's Hammer at the beginning too going toe to toe with Cobham. LELAND SKLAR

  • @DoctorEeam No bro, I wasn't look any comment!!

  • You know what? Its only just now dawning on me after all these years people think that Jan hammer is Tommy Bolin. @ 3:20 that's Jan hammer playing his keyboard like a guitar better than most guitar players will ever hope to be able to play guitar. @ 6:28 that's Hammer again. I'm only saying this because its common to hear the Bolin rave. But the reality is that his contribution is a minor one at the most. Its Billy, Jan, and cant recall the bass players name who make this a thing of greatness.

  • @DoctorEeam , I'm agree with you, he is Jan Hammer, but in the middle is Tommy Bolin who plays the guitar. By the way, the bass player is Leland Sklar.

  • @DoctorEeam.... Alex Blake is the bass player.

  • @sticktrik Músicos / Personnel: Billy Cobham - Batería, Percusión Tommy Bolin - Guitarra líder Jan Hammer - Piano eléctrico/acústico, Sintetizador Moog Lee Sklar - Bajo eléctrico Joe Farrell - Flauta, Saxófono soprano/alto Jimmy Owens - Fliscorno, Trompeta John Tropea - Guitarra rítmica Ron Carter - Bajo acústico Ray Barretto - Congas .

  • jezz!!!...

  • @DoctorEeam Saw you on the Spectrum reunion tour in Schenectady,NY and was very impressed with your playing Mr. Sklar! Dean Brown was tremendous also as was Mr. Cobham. BTW, I completely agree with what you say about Jan Hammer and just how amazing he is (no disrespect to the great Tommy Bolin who plays groundbreaking guitar on this).

  • @chinkadero Given the effects available to him at the time, the "spaceship drive-by's" (great description, btw) were something he did that as far as I know, nobody has ever replicated. I know I tried . . . and tried . . . but I think it's a secret he took with him. And for anyone who wants to say that it's Hammer doing that, Hammer and Bolin are mixed hard left and hard right. All you need is a balance control to hear who's doing what.

  • What an influential album for me. I loved discovering that Tommy Bolin had done some fusion sessions. Great asymmetrical phrase grouping. Always loved Jan Hammer and Billy.

  • @pb4ueatjoe I too thank you .Not the best ever ,but If you wanna rate them.Go on.! 1966-1976 .... when what we call fusion era,the music we all love was at it´s best...sure. more than 3 decades, now returning with the Bands which ...finally found the way to play...not talk,So again ,RTF,Mahavishnu,Santana, playing 1970 music. The Music ,and about Santana...They will play at the House of Blues for the next 2 Years,Old,Not so Old,Current and hopefully New too.

  • THE GREATEST ROCK JAZZ - FUSION L.P. EVER MADE and probably Tommy Bolin's BEST WORK on this LP. Thanks for putting it up on you tube. Sincerely, much gratitude

  • What a machine gun!!!

Cobham was a revolution in those times,i remember a week passed in London in the vynil shops to hear : The NICE(Keith Emerson!!) and the Mahavishnu Birds of fire!!!

What's comparable now: Jamie Cullum,Danilo Perez,Eliane Elias etc...

  • Wow. Saw Billy at Johnny D's, Somerville, Ma. Unreal.

  • Aside from all the little things we like to dote on as far as this tune is concerned, I think everyone here does agree that this rocks like few other things do..

  • correction not Fernando Saunders but Alphonso Johnson in the Cobham/Duke band.

    sorry
