Yes, that's right. I used my Vacuum-forming machine to make the handle part for this design. I used a blank, semi-weighted M-Audio Keystation 61es for this project. I moved all the jack connection boards to the far right of the main casing, and extended all the wires (PAIN IN MY ASS...) to make the pitchbend and octave controls reach into the handle. Total cost? About $200 for the MIDI controller, paint, and electronic supplies. Sure beats the hell out of a $1,000 unit. This is also a full-sized 61-key keytar, too, unlike the others out there. It was just a fun little project. Within a few months, I might be getting a "real" keytar, though.

Oh, you might recognize a little EVH guitar lick in this video, as well as some Daft Punk....

  • What did you use to attach the strap? I'm working on my own keytar with the Keystation 61es and I was planning on using strap locks, but I'm not sure how to secure them to the body of the keyboard.
