The Jump Up Tour is often referred as being one of Elton's best tours--which is why I'm gonna upload more concerts from 1982! This concert was broadcasted on a New York-based radio show called the "King Biscuit Flower Hour." Only 9 songs are featured on the recording, but it's better than nothing! The quality is superb (since it's from a radio broadcast), and it actually aids the performances (you can hear how tight the vocal harmonies are)! Elton's voice is a touch rough in a few spots, but it's in good shape overall! Superb versions of "Pinball Wizard," "Empty Garden," "Rocket Man," and "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting," are performed on this recording. This concert is a good way to introduce someone to Elton John's 1982 tour (since you can refer to these shorter recordings as "previews" to his 2-hour shows)!

ENJOY!!!

Note: This recording is actually from Saratoga 1982--but in the edited radio broadcast version. Thanks to "RonnieFriend" for the observation!

  • what always made me laugh was how out of tune Dee and Davey's back up vocals often were in these shows. Not all the time of course, but often enough to be very noticable

  • I guess every venue is different! haha

  • interesting phasing effects on his vocals and the bass guitar towards the end

  • I like them!

  • Yeah, the tempos were often flying (especially in the later North American shows-onward)!

  • @razorface31 everything from this tour was played too fast, most likely because he was snorting cocaine before coming on stage. You can even see in the live footage from this show he's got the "coke sweats"

  • Haha! Gotta love these older concerts!

  • i just saw him in Saratoga a few nights ago (9/3/11) and he mentioned a number of times how he hadnt played there since 1971. guess he forgot. haha. its so incredibly random to come across this vid after seeing him a toga a few days ago. kinda glad i did.

  • Elton John + White Powder = Fast!!!

It does seem a little faster than he usually plays it!

  • I like this version as well but it feels kinda fast compared to some of the others.
