You're throwing a tantrum over music? I shudder to think what you'd do if they played with the music of the Nutcracker. The can-can is a high energy dance that is supposed to be fun and enjoyable to watch. IMHO, the music compliments the dance nicely. The only disappointment is that they didn't show enough of the dance. Too many shots of the Moulin Rouge and the dancer's torsos as another user said.

  • 0:50 - 1:20 - this is "Unter donner und blitz" polka from Strauss' Fledermaus the operetta

  • Too bad that the video almost doesn't show the dancers' legs - after all, can can is mostly about the legs, and not about torso and Moulin Rouge :D

  • @sockington1 If I remember it correctly, this version of Can Can was part of project of Royal Philharmonic orchestra. The focus of the project was to show people that classical music is not so bad and boring as majority of population thought, and in my opinion, their albums "Hooked on Classics" showed that pretty well. Nicely chosen examples of music and I think that can can sounded pretty well with that added beat. If the main theme is good, additional parts can destroy it. Not completely, lol.

  • "Lizzie Borden took her axe and gave her mother forty whacks..."

  • why do the cretinous fuckwits have to take classical music and destroy it with that fucking dreadful drum machine ?

  • they didn't do enough cartwheels and leg raising boring!

  • Nicht "Can Can", sondern "Orpheus in der Unterwelt" heisst es.

  • ?????

  • Looks like it was a nice performance. Too bad the person who originally produced this chose to superimpose the Moulin Rouge facade over the dancers so that you can't see the performance very well.
