@muge0711 you evidently dont know anything about barbershop...
-
@thecrittman its because he's above the lead for 75% of the song
-
@muge0711 they slow down at the ends of phrases because they are ringing a chord....it is good blend because half the time they are blending so well that all you hear is the overtone ring...also this song is not a rhythm tune. its a ballad, the telling of a story, therefore rhythm is important like if it were a swing tune or a march. Some people like a bit of expression with their music rather than just being a metronomic piece.

@cw82352 yeah im pretty sure you dont realize that a major third actually had to be lower than it equal tempered friend on the piano to actually be perfectly in tune.
-
It's amazing, really amazing.

@cw82352 I too feel the bass sounds a little nasal. From the little barbershop I know, the tenor is supposed to sing a little bit flat in order to achieve better ringing with the other three voices. It's pretty incredible how they blend and in pitch they are though, even if it's sometimes a little screamy and nasal? It's almost unreal.

For those of you ragging on the overbalancing, see the (rehearsal) following the title? That is because it is the fact that THEY ARE MIC TESTING!! The mics of course won't be perfect in a mic test...

It's so easy to find the bad in something. Why do we have the tendency to gravitate in that direction? I challenge anyone to sing this style of music "correctly". I've had the honor of singing on the International contest stage with 41 other quartets. My quartet was the best in our district, and at the big dance we came in next to last. There are some very talented people out there. Well done fellas!

I don't get all these king singers fanatics. Why do you need to go around and bag on every other version of the song? Stop forcing your opinions on everyone else and please go away... Thanks. What happened to just being nice...
-
@rickyrudd28gt ...and they have a gold medal to prove just how overbalanced they are....pfffffft !
@muge0711 What are you doing on a barbershop site? At least you are observant in a few areas - we babershoppers don't do soloist style music since our objective is close chords and good blend. I strongly disagree on your musical assessment of this piece.

chris and tim both are overbalanced for this group. Not a bad thing though cuz they allow all parts to support their singing with less restriction, especially jonni. erik is a great lead too
