Hey Tim,very helpful drum lessons !
Just wondering why you don't use an "up and down" movement of the right arm. That's the technique I learned to accentuate the 2 and 4's. Basically means you slightly hit the ride while lifting your arm up on the 1 and 3's then fully hitting when doing the 2 and 4's when your arm is going down.
I think this really helps to put the accents but also "monitors" your placement on the pattern.
Keep up the good work

@telemark326 He's not bald, dude. Tim is my drummer and I can attest. Nice, BTW...

@tim481 when you are in a room to yourself playing a sizzler type cymbal,a lot of rivets can be a bit much!

Thanks! There were two rivets in it when I shot the video, but I have since reduced it to one.

hi tim !
fist of all, thanx for the details! i like your sound very well ..
then, i would like to know how you worked on your drive .. how you maked it swing like that, coz im trying hard to do that! but its a great tip to accentuate the 2 and 4, even though

Thanks for the kind words! There are a number of ways to work on your time feel. Here are a few I suggest:
First, play along and listen to as much Tony Williams as you can. No one drives a band like him.
Second, try practicing with a metronome on beats 2 and 4 while playing ever so slightly ahead of the beat and right on it.
Finally, check your technique. I use a snapping motion in the right hand with little to no arm movement. (while playing time)
Hope this helps,
-Tim
