A quick tutorial / demonstration on how to make a simple footswitch for a guitar amplifiers (that have a "Foot switch" imput). Foot switches usually activate and deactivate the Gain or Drive channel on guitar amplifiers, they are hard to buy but extremely easy to make!

  • My amp uses a stereo jack for the switch, not mono... I assume this is common of most amps yet you've gone and used a mono jack on the switch?

Hmm... that sounds lazy and/or dodgy.

  • @MorkaGraven Your amp might have a specific pedal, that controls more than just the channel selector. Like reverb or something. But i assure you its not "dodgy" ¬¬

  • Is the switch Normally Open or Normally closed?

  • @KiloQ1982 Im not sure what you meen, if the switch is open, the gain is activated, if it is closed, gain is turned off... so the switch is normally closed. i think...

  • That's sweet dude where did you get the switch part

  • @XRGDARKN3SS its called a DPDT metal push switch, you can get them in all electric shop (or whatever their called). if you can find one, look on the internet!

  • @JamleSalisbury Ah, reverb. That might explain it. I have a reverb tank.

  • haha! a hamster house! that is genius :D

  • @JustGoneRogue lol sorry. any other sugestion is welcome x)

  • @tasfa10 it's just a suggestion, don't get all worked up about it

  • @JustGoneRogue lol. would like a better suggestion. a new amp is too expensive and im planning on buying recording gear a probably a new guitar cause i play tuned one step down and im taking a professional level guitar course next year and i need a guitar to be standard tuned. plus next amp ill buy should be a big one to play live which means i'd spend a lot of money in it. and this all means i cant spend money in an amp right now cause i have priorities. but im sure some pedal will do the work!

  • @tasfa10 get a new amp

  • wtf i dont have any footswitch input in my amp. what now?

  • @andriuxpa1993 by a roland the switch only has to make contact not being the whole time closed. you get an old guitar cable, cut it in half, and you see 2 cables. when that 2 cables make contact, you switch from channel. just put the other end in the footswitch input
