Not surprising that this ill informed report is on FOX news. Stossel is an epic moron - so when a small town has a natural disaster that is beyond the scope of their available resources, they should do what? No, disaster relief is something that the government should most certainly be involved in. Stossel's line of reasoning is stupid and shortsighted.

First of all, I believe that Stuart Varney is a naturalized citizen of the United States. He has lived here since 1974.

Secondly, the answer to your question "Why does the US have English journalists?" is probably just that the corporations that employ journalists do not take into account your misguided, xenophobic opinions when making their hiring decisions.

I have no problem debating the issue of federal gov't involvement during a disaster or any other issue you want to talk about, but maybe you should read what I wrote again so you can understand that I was singling out one person. It's a sound accusation in theory but in reality, the federal funding for disaster relief is minuscule compared to the other two dozen sources of waste in the federal budget that Stossel harps on.

Besides, not only did the fairly conservative governor of New Jersey hail the federal response, the more important thing is that when disasters cross state borders, it requires a non-local response to coordinate.
