i just made the welding team for my FFA chapter and that is what mentor told me was my issue, i usually just stopped after i pulled my electrode off of the base metal causing that pit you told us about, this has helped me substantially and now i understand what needs to be done to fix my problem.
ps having my mentor be a lower class-men is rather annoying also so i tend to ignore some of the things he says, i think i will apologize after Christmas break

Good tips, kinda obvious to welders with experience. Good for beginners tho....
here's the part i don't understand about you people that think you are the best of the best! 14 yrs. now i've been a welder, i'm cert. in many weld procedures from high press. vessals to petrochemical jet fuel lines! B31.1 - B31.3 GMAW SMAW SAW GTAW and orbital tig! if your so good why are you looking at videos like this!!? i've trained many guys were i work and nothing pisses me off more then when someone gets cocky! i look at vids like this because there is always something new to learn!
