Ilha das Flores is a short film by Jorge Furtado, set in Porto Alegre. On the surface the film follows the journey of a simple tomato -- from its humble beginnings on Mr Suzuki's plantation to the Isle of Flowers where it will be consumed by a hungry pig. The film then segues into a brief discussion of the human condition, ending with the scene of a youth walking through a landfill, holding a bag full of trash.
But beneath this linear plotline is an intricately woven sub-plot. Camouflaged but not concealed...
