The manual disconnect switch worked, but it was cumbersome. I tapped into the neutral switch to drive a normally-closed relay connected in series with the rear fuel injector. I kept the toggle switch to control power to the relay, which enables or disables this feature. When the toggle switch is off, the bike behaves normally. When the toggle switch is on, power to the rear fuel injector is interrupted by the relay, but only when the transmission is in neutral. You can hear one-cylinder operation when it is switched on in neutral. You can hear two-cylinder operation immediately when the bike is switched into 1st gear or 2nd gear. You can hear little or no hesitation when shifting from 1st through neutral to 2nd.
