  • Del has one of THE best voices in rock history. Note the range as he goes from a mid tempo to a slight gravelly voice to a high pitch, and then back around, and does it flawlessly and with heart. I grew up an 80's metal fan, and I can tell you that many metal vocalist could take lessons from this guy.

  • @rockinkb God rest Del Shannon's soul.

  • whats Del Shannon doing with these clowns? They aren't fit to wipe his ass!

  • @rockinkb im also a big fan of del's 60's albums,'home and away' & 'the further adventures of charles westover' in particular. but all del is good del,so yes.....he's well worth it. thanks for the post!

  • This beats anything that is out there now. 50s ROCK LIVES FOREVER!

  • Yeah. Del had talent, I have to say.

  • @sportshistorybuff The given reason is a pretty standard one: He suffered from depression. He was actually on something of an upsurge, there was talk of him joining "The Traveling Wilburys: after Roy Orbison's death, and retro rock was on an upswing in the late 1980's. He was 55 years old, a well known difficult and dangerous period for males suffering from depression. Who can ever know why, but R.I.P. Del Shannon, and thank you for one of the great classic songs in the history of rock.

  • I was fortunate enough to see him live in concert once during the early 1980's. One of my guitar teachers played guitar for him during the show. Five octaves under total control is one heck of a vocal feat. Most singers are lucky to have three.

  • @sportshistorybuff I remember reding about that that's too bad. He's a bit stiff on here

  • Does anyone know why Del Shannon committed suicide? Was he ill, or in financial trouble? What a tragedy.
