Doors of Percepction:

Have fun kids.

Shpongle are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one half of The Infinity Project and founder of the indo-prog/raga rock group of the 60's/70's Quintessence). Their sound is a mix of mainly eastern ethnic samples and western contemporary psychedelic synth music.

Posford is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements and visionary input.

The Dorset Perception is a tribute to a book, "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley, which you can read here:

It's peoples choice if using or not, but what we are trying to prove to people about psychedelics is not that music sounds better. It's about finding the real you. It's up to you what you want to think about shrooms or acid, but we who have experienced it, don't tell people about them for nothing. It sucks that people say that you'll jump of a roof is you take a try. I don't take them all the time, because even a one trip is an new way to look at this world and yourself.

The most mature and well thought out response I've seen. Legitimate reasoning as well. Thank you sir.

Is that a Godfather-theme reference at 5:40? I'm sure it is, but no one else ever seems to "hear" it when I try to convince them. I could be crazy, also.

I used to have the exact same mindset as you, so I understand wxactly what you mean. Although the reason alot of people say they really like to listen to Shpongle and other artists while high is not exactly because its BETTER but because it gives them a completely different way to experience it.

Shpongle was intended to be enjoyed under the influence, thus why most of their music is based upon them.

MDMA is a drug that is MEANT to make everything more intense and better, especially music.

Oops, I didn't notice the 'if' in the Simon and Raja part -- I'm sure they would correlate psychedelics with their musical accomplishments. I thought you were some lousy stoner saying the same redundant things on pages like this, and there is some truth to trips revealing elusive qualities in music, I can't argue that.

I think callacracker is frustrated because there is an excess in talk about drugs on youtube. I am too, but at least I followed this through and found out there was more to you.

Never said you did, that's what the subjunctive mood is all about - I was posing a hypothetical involving you asking the guys who made this song what they think about psychedelics.

Bear in mind I've listened to this album hundreds of times and 99% of the time I was sober. I think that's the most annoying thing about people like callacracker - they assume people who trip do so every waking minute, as if that were biological possible.

You hear more when you're tripping. That's all I'm saying.
