i suppose Chic/Bernard Edwards ushered in a new era of soul/dance music. Especially in instrumentation. When this song came out it had a "bottom" like no one had heard before. The reason was because the bass was played as the main instrument and everything else was sprinkled under it.The lyrics, the strings, the vocals , the positive up-beat messages and their fashion sense...... more than Disco, more than Northeren Soul, CHIC was International Soul.
