I believe that marijuana, in the liquid form of tincture of cannabis, was common in those times, too. bundangbear, why don't you see if you can get a biochemist at Cornell to solve this mystery?

This is a house outside Ithaca, NY. I'm on vacation now. The bottle was just mysteriously in the wall.
