The Friends of Haverford Township Free Library invite you to a Haitian art show and fundraising event. Original Haitian paintings and metal art are now available for your viewing and purchase and will be up through March. These pieces have been in the collection of a local art dealer/collector - Frank Giannetta. Mr. Giannetta has travelled to Haiti extensively since 1975 and has accumulated a large number of pieces from notable Haitian artists. This collection is now open to the public. All profits will be shared by the Friends and Doctors Without Borders - an international nongovernmental organization working in Haiti to save lives.
We have 100 paintings on display for your viewing pleasure and purchase. The New Yorker magazine dated January 25, 2010 has on its front page a remarkable painting by Frantz Zephirin, one of Haiti's most admired and successful artists. We are very proud to have several of his works in our show.
Your purchase benefits you by enhancing your personal life and home by having an original piece of Haitian art, aiding the library in this time of severe budgetary cuts and by providing funds to Doctors Without Borders in their quest to provide life saving medical attention to the earthquake victims of Haiti.
Art purchases may be made by either cash or check payable to The Friends of Haverford Township Free Library.
Doctors Without Borders (www.doctorswithoutborders.org) is one of the leading nongovernmental organizations [NGOs} now working to save Haitian lives. Charity Navigator is an online guide to intelligent gifting - www.charitynavigator.org - and has given Doctors their highest rating of 4 stars. In 1999, Doctors Without Borders were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Friends are a 501C [3] nonprofit group whose mission is to raise funds and to be an advocate for the library. The library's budget has been severely cut and requires extra funding, relying heavily on our fundraising activities.
