After serving his country in the Civil War as a skilled sharpshooter, Will Drayton (Jim Hilton) moved West in search of employment using his shooting skills. He ended up with the wrong type of people as an assassin. He moved on with his life trying to better himself---marrying a local girl and managing a small cattle ranch. Things went well for them until he was approached by the bank that held the papers on their ranch. They wanted him to provide a "special" kind of security for them given his past talents....

After some discussion with his wife (Lucy) he takes the job and quickly learns the men he has been hired to kill are some of the very same men he worked for in the past--on the other side of the law.

Will even gets assistance from an old adversary in the way of Ian McHenry, U.S. Marshall (David Carradine). They work past their old grievances and are successful in their pursuit of justice but it comes with a high price to Drayton...as the gang members have given him somewhat of a "house call" while he is away.
