"The History of Ecstasy" by Ron Athey and with original music by Othon Mataragas, played live by the author. In this clip Ernesto Tomasini recites the oldest love poem in history (by an anonimous Sumerian scribe; translation and adaptation by Tomasini). Visible in the clip are also Athey, Lee Adams and Pigpen. Other cast members were Julie Tolentino, Vaginal Davis and Mouse. Museo Madre. Napoli Teatro Festival Italia 2009.

History of Ecstasy, è una performance site-specific che è la summa di tutti i suoi lavori precedenti: una via crucis metaforica scandita da più atti, a metà strada tra sacro e profano, sogno e realtà, tenerezza e violenza. Partendo dall’attualità e dalle proprie vicende biografiche, l'artista mette in scena una personale agiografia rivisitando l'iconografia cristiana. La performance si basa su una dualità che ne costituisce il fulcro e la forza, tra il puro e il sordido, redenzione e dannazione.
