Its my personal opinion,don't blast me for it,just giving you my reasoning why he isnt the best player...I love Joe though,don't get me wrong...

I think Joe is great and has done well on the international stage.. I think his days of being the number 1 player in the league are over..I know 'scoring" isnt everything,but production in this day and age can't be argued against.. I would take a guy that is going to score 80-100 points,that fights and can lead his team. That player,should produce 30 of those points by goals.Personally,I think the best player is Iginla or Ovechkin.Then you look at the Thorntons,Crosby,Malkin,Heatle
y and Nashs.. -
Scoreing isn't and is defenately not what what makes big joe great.

Thorton is not the toughest in the NHL..Tough,likely,but could he face a laraque,brashear .. I highly doubt it... You are right,he is too valuable to fight,but he isn't the best player in the league.He doesn't score enough 2 be the best player in the league..Not even the best Canadian player IMO,but a solid player nonethe less.
