This happens on OSX 10.6.2

Take a look at:
0:20
0:45
1:25 (and then Safari & FInder windows' focus mess is even bigger)

I'm having 2 apps open in Space 1 (Safari and Finder) and another app (Terminal) open in a different Space. When I switch between apps in different Spaces, sometimes one of the apps in Space 1 kind of loses focus. I'm trying to figure out what is causing it but so far I'm unsuccessful. I've removed Growl, SIMBL, Logitech drivers and other background apps that I thought could cause it but the issue remains.

I didn't have this problem in 10.5.8.

If anyone had similar problem, please post the fix in the comments.

I submitted this as a bug to Apple but they were not able to reproduce it.

  • yes indeed. fucking annoying.

i think the reason is that when switching to another space os x goes through the active programs stack in a random order.

if you try to switch to an empty space (using shortcuts) you will see that Finder is put in front on the space you're leaving, because that is the only available program running in the new space. Since finder is not bound to one space alone it is put in front on all spaces.

only developers and fanbois think this is logical though.

  • @summerWTFE thanks for your reply, you're first person other than me to have this issue... I stopped using Spaces because of this, so far so good ;)

  • @summerWTFE Steven was a camelfucker by his nature. It explains.

  • this one, is most annoying of things, that makes me want switch back to ubuntu

  • @bzikofski I "resolved" it by buying Path Finder, though I find I ridiculous that I have to spend extra cash because of that crap. I found many other small and annoying things in OS X that haven't been fixed for years...
