@2012Steelerfan mountains or hills wont save you if a twisted would ever form in a valley it will bounce off hills and or mountains a few years back a twisters did alot of damage in pittsburgh pa by bouncheing

Virginia has only had two F-4 tornadoes in recorded history and a never an F-5. We get tornadoes but nothing like this. Thank goodness for the Appalachian Mountains.

@singingblondie1234 Peak Gust 52 was the highest wind gust that the instrument packet located ontop of the Tuscaloosa Courthouse had measured through the day until that point. The instrument packet itself was never directly hit by the tornado; so, it didn't measure those higher winds.
