Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, often referred to as Captain Scarlet, is a 1960s British science-fiction television series produced by the Century 21 Productions company of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, John Read and Reg Hill. First broadcast on ATV Midlands between September 1967 and May 1968, it has since been transmitted in more than 40 other countries, including the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Combined with scale model special effects, characters are presented in a form of marionette puppetry that the Andersons termed "Supermarionation", a technology which used internal solenoid motors to produce mouth motions

Why are they sweeping around Japan archipelago from the base by radar? The island base does not suggest it is in the middle of Japan.

@MrItchyElbow Well, in episode 1, the very incident which killed Captain Scarlet, they have a flat tire and then crash. It's pretty much the same thing as here. I think the Mysterons made Major Reeves ill and then snap that bolt at the right time.

look at 2:58 and the bar he is leaning on. the bolt snaps. no mysteron powers, no aliens from an other planet. just a bolt and too hard of a push.
