Donna Loren in a live Shindig performance of "Goldfinger", the title song from the 1964 James Bond film of the same name. Composed by John Barry with lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, the song was made famous by Shirley Bassey who performed it for the film's opening and closing title sequences, as well as the soundtrack album release. This show aired 3-24-65.

Donna Loren was the one-and-only "Dr Pepper Girl" from 1963 to 1968. She was signed to a long-term contract with the soft-drink company to sing all television and radio commercials, do all magazine and billboard advertising representing them in every capacity, sometimes sharing the spotlight with American Bandstand's Dick Clark. This relationship led to her touring in Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars with other popular acts like Diana Ross and The Supremes and singing solos in the popular Beach Party films starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. Later, she became the regular female vocalist on the popular 60's American live rock n roll TV show "Shindig" and she appeared in singing and acting roles in many iconic TV shows like The Monkees, Gomer Pyle, The Mothers-In-Law, Red Skelton, Milton Berle and various game shows. She's released 22 singles, an album and 2 CD's. Ms Loren is currently in the studio again making music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ-wN37G2rs

  • Great clip...

  • @Lockemeister They groom performers to have all that.

  • @Thorneycroft1937 Ah... not bad. Lol ! (I'm just kidding). Very good and thanks for all that info. I trying to think of the one person I've heard sing "What Kind of Fool Am I". I think Robert Goulet. Someone with a booming voice for sure. Yeah, Anthony Newley, if I'm not mistaken wrote songs for Dr.Doolittle w/Rex Harrison also. You know Anthony Newley use to be married to Joan Collins of whom they have a child together.

  • @amuslima99 Music written by John Barry who died earlier this year, lyrics written by lyricist Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley (lyricist and singer who recorded the first Goldfinger version ever.) The Newley Bricusse duo has written many amazing songs such as What Kind Of Fool Am I (which was awarded a Grammy) or Feeling good. By the way, the first person ever besides Barry to hear the music of Goldfinger was veteran actor Sir Michael Caine.

  • I LOVE THIS VERSION!

  • No one can sing it like the "BASS", whether they were trying to or not-but she wasn't that bad. Now can anyone tell me who wrote "Goldfinger" ? Trivia Question.

  • She's only 17-18 years old here. Great poise and class.

  • @JohnnyGNV Then again, with a John Barry score...

  • Super.
