My newest treatment...for Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy.

This block is used for procedures of the hand, forearm, and elbow. An injection is given in the patient's axilla (armpit) into a space that surrounds a bundle of nerves that supply feeling to the lower arm. This is usually done with the patient awake with sedation, but can be done with the patient under General Anesthesia.

  • I had a bad injection site reaction after mine. I had multiple ganglion blocks that hurt less.

  • I alternate mine between the neck and the armpit... They're both starting to give me problems now because of the scar tissue building up.

  • It doesn't really hurt at all. The worst part is when the freezing comes out.

  • wonderful block for forearm and hand surgery and pain relief.we practise mostly transarterial technique.

  • The transarterial technique is also easy & very effective. We regularly practice it with very high success rate

  • Of course CRNA's can do this.

  • This is done as a local Anesthesia? The way the IV is fed into the vein it looks like a general?

  • sometimes ...

  • I have to have this done next tuesday for surgery on my fingers and have been absolutely dreading it. Seeing you smiling whilst having it done is kinda reassuring it isn't so bad! Still not looking forward to it tho :-/
