no indicator needed. kick slow til you feel the compression, pull the copm lever and bump it past, let go ov lever, and kick it. no problem.

It takes a certain technique to start those old thumpers. I do it by feel without looking at the stroke indicator. Mine has an 11:1 so it can be a real bear to start and will hurt an untrained individual. :D
