Mitsubishi hopes their new LaserVue TVs will give LCD and Plasma screens a run for their money. The screens use three lasers to scan the screen at 1080p. The main sacrifice is depth-the TV's are about ten inches thick. IEEE Spectrum http://spectrum.ieee.org caught up with Mitsubishi at NYC's Digital Experience in July.

  • the waves lose coherence.

  • Laser TV? is that safe for the eyes.

  • it sounds nice. and yeah lasers don't decay as in it doesn't broke like plasma tv's or lcd tv's so the lifespan will be lot of years 0_0...

  • Hes from da Bronx

  • I emailed them and they replyed that it is only for the US NTSC format and not for the PAL UK :(

  • Are these out or not we still only have

lcd or plasma in the UK and you can get a good plasma for under £500 now

  • it sounds great but the price sounds stupid if it costs less to make than a regular hd tv then it souldnt cost $7000 dollars its common sense

  • Bitsaremissing marketing must have cloth for brains. Their logic: its better than existing plasma, lcd, led so lets rrp it at highest price points. Well it would have the potential to be a disruptive technology but get it out there, showcase it to business & government decision makers and buyers at events, airports, government environment conferences etc. And push the product with some loss leaders and tv giveaways so it can be demonstrated and proven. Kudos to the laservue engineering folks.
