Is this Pennies From Heaven or am I wrong? Trios are the coolest. I dig trios to the max. Let's everybody shine and play their assess off. Rob sounds so great in a trio setting like this one. To me there's nothing like the cool sound of bone with little else to cloud the sound. Bring back this kind of music so we can enjoy it at bars and coffee establishments.
So true, man. You nailed it. His phrasing and style is great. And for anybody bitching about him playing a "lazy" valve trombone, GET OVER IT. Would you say the same of a trumpet player? Same deal. Aint it? It's what comes out of the frickin bell that counts and Rob is wonderful. PLUS he's a killer arranger! Props to him. Signed, a SLIDE bone player.
