  • What is the use of TRACKING FOCUS? is it for movie mode or for still images??? and also ive heard that this camera has 9 AF points.....what are those, are they useful when taking videos? ,,,what is MAKRO? and what focusing mode did you use for these photos is it AF MODE?

  • @mfoulks Im in the same spot also, Im thinking about getting the HX100V, but have my H50 with the tele & wide lens. Do you think the HX100V is worth it? Have you compared pics to see whats best?

    If you can please reply,

    Thanks

  • Just got this 3 days ago and although I like the bells and whistles, the image qty is not close (AT ALL) to, believe it or not, my old Sony H50. I suspect this is due to cramming 16MPs into the sm sensor as well as perhaps the clarity sacrifices for the monster zoom. Maybe 10 or 12 MPs and a 10-15X zoom was the "sweet spot" for the Carl Ziess lens? I donno. Thoughts?

  • @bearz134 All Photo s are taken on an automat, I wanted to go out and see how well, and such was the intention

  • @Grroocx Wow! Thank you so much! And what is the best setting for very crisp picture clarity? I really want that detail in my picture :) Thanks again!

  • @bearz134, also ask for a very light tripod for Christmas. Better, get the camera first and research tripods—very tricky to select the right one. Tripod videos have rock-steady margins; you soon want these. Also because the camera is so steady, the file size is minimal (huge even so, but less wasteful). You don't HAVE to have a tripod—hand-held is superb—but in no time you will become very demanding; this camera is very friendly but is very addictive! So get a tripod.

  • @bearz134, My HX100V is STILL way ahead of me, and I've had it since summer! I love this camera.

—Best ref info is The Binary Cafe (here or its own website; study all).

—Teensy manual is a shame, even though Sony has one ON the camera and another online.

    —Look for settings: I use HDMI res = 1080p; movie format = AVCHD 60p @ "PS" 28M; movie steady shot = ACT; stills = 16:9 (12M).

—Expect temp difficulties with AVCHD and your computer speed. All can be resolved. Don't despair. EXCELLENT camera.

  • @Grroocx What camera settings do you suggest? (I'm getting this camera for Christmas)

  • nice one man

  • I think your camera settings should be posted. Your photography and video editing are very nice, but the HX100V can do a lot better than this. These pictures are "soft" (lacking sharp definition). For nature photography, you generally want razor sharp imagery. The video itself is very well presented.
