We head to Nation Of Shopkeepers in Leeds to catch Chilean spinner Dinky playing out for System and Louche, and to talk about her recent mix album for Cocoon, Musica Libre...
She's an artist who's been on the rise for the past few years, but 2010 is when Dinky really took off. With her residencies at PanoramaBar and Cocoon cementing her reputation for creating and playing top-quality sounds, the Chilean DJ and producer is firing on all cylinders just now. And on top of this, there's her new compilation for Cocoon, Musica Libre, filled with exclusive tracks from friends and artists that Dinky "deeply admires, like Bruno Pronsato, Matthew Styles and The Mole, as well as some tracks from ladies I really love musically, like Nina Kraviz, Laverne Radix or Deniz Kurtel who provide an extra feminine touch to the CD".
So when our friends at System told us they were teaming up with fellow Leeds night Louche to bring Dinky to the UK for an outdoor party, we couldn't resist. We lugged our cameras all the way to Yorkshire to talk to the producer about Musica Libre and her music in general, and to catch some of her amazing set at Nation Of Shopkeepers on film...
i like what she is wearing.
