When Bert wonders what to do with a nearby letter L, Ernie suggests composing a "la-la-la" song which includes other L-words in the lyrics. Of course, the words each character chooses reveal a lot about their personalities... This is the old-school version that most Sesame Street fans remember from the show's early years: blank-wall scenery, spoken reactions to each L-word, and text spelled out onscreen. (The remake which aired in 2001 took place in Bert and Ernie's apartment, and included no text beyond the L itself--one fan supposes that Sesame Workshop did it this way to allow foreign-language dubs.)
NOTE: According to Muppet Wiki, this clip has appeared as early as Episode 321.

I remember this on TV and the Muppet Alphabet Album! When was episode 321 aired?
JGCooney 3 months ago
@JGCooney: Muppet Wiki lists the airdate as January 10, 1972. Unfortunately, #321 hasn't been released on DVD or rerun as an Unpaved episode; I doubt anyone outside Sesame Workshop has a copy now.
