Dr. Brett Kotlus and Dr. Charles Mok demonstrate treatment of varicose leg veins with the CoolTouch, 1,320 nm Nd:YAG laser. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia within minutes. Sclerotherapy is often performed with endovenous laser ablation for complete resolution of venous varicosities.

  • The saphenous system is being treated, which is not the deep venous circulation of the leg. There is no physiologic consequence- the deep veins will handle the bloodflow and performance and lifestyle is unaffected.

  • My wife just had this done yesterday. They sedated her pretty heavily, i'm assuming because of the small vein phlebectomies she had as well? This patient seems to be enjoying the trip. :)

  • Tell me, the ablation of the vein mean the destruction of it? In the video what kind of vein was being treated in the patient's leg? Was it a deep vein? If so, wouldn't that be something that was important and needed by the leg? What would be the decrease in ther circulation of the leg as the result?

What if this patient wanted to train to be a serious runner or something? How will performance be efffected?
