Worldwide, more than a billion people live in slums. As many as one million of them in the Kenyan slum of Kibera. Slum Survivors tells the stories of a few of them and charts their remarkable courage in the face of extreme poverty.

@equinoxa easier said than done. These women probably have no acess to birth control, and as for the husband, what are you going to do when he comes home and beats the crap out of you or rapes you. How are you going to get rid of him. No police or government welfare system will be there for you.

The idiotic wife of Kenya's President, Lucy Kibaki, promotes the non use of condoms, stating that they help the spread of AIDS! Also, Muslim clerics in Kenya are campaining to stop the the distribution of free condoms. With bafoons like these running the country what hope do the common people have?

I seriously don't understand why you could have 8 kids while you are so poor.
BTW: Many government give out condoms for free, especially in poorer countries.

this is so sad and bleak omg, if i was in this situation after a couple of kids i would have sewed myself up shut and never had sex again, seriously! and that deadbeat husband he would be history. id get the scissors out whenever he came around looking for free sex!

This is the reality of the class devide in kenya. the opposition parties attempts to decentrise wealth are unsupported by the West and strongly oppossed by the rulers. The West failed to support the outcome of democratic election results and are instead supporting the corrupt government that forcuses on the rich and a particular tribe ignoring Mwananchi who works so hard to contribute to the economy as They CANNOT AFFORD a ONE MILLION fund raising Lunch
