2010 Bethel Spring Series, presented by Carpe Diem Racing, LLC

Cat 3-4 race. Minor breaks, final two laps. Tailwind on backstretch - Cat 3-4s weren't that fast, P123s were hitting 40 mph. Cross-headwind on sprint hill. Cross-headwind on first stretch (wind from 1 or 2 o'clock).

Chilly conditions, about 45 deg F. I wore a base layer long sleeve jersey, short sleeve jersey, clear rain jacket (seriously), long sleeve jersey. "Roubaix" bib knickers, booties, Canari winter gloves.

Tsunami Bikes frameset (custom geometry - 40x56.5), aluminum). Campy components, BB30 Cannondale SI SRM crankset (175mm). HED Stinger6 wheels (2010).

First cam done in HD (ContourHD1080P), set per slowroadie (Youtube user and person who convinced me this was the camera to get). Published in highest resolution possible (which is not quite the highest the camera goes).

Due to lack of user experience, P123 race wasn't recorded, nor was the prior week's races.

First clip done on the mac, iMovie. Forgive all my experimentation with all the cool stuff they give you.

  • Wow ! Great vid Aki ! I've trolled your vids in the past. A couple guys I ride with are trying to get me to sign up for the Spring Series in 2011. Never raced yet....but your vids are the best advertising/enticement. :)

  • @JoeOxfordCT Thanks! It's hard to show the work my teammates did since, frankly, I was sitting in while they were at the front, but they were responsible for setting up the finish to be a field sprint. I hope you make it out to the Series in 2011.

  • brilliant race CDR, amazing tactics and awesome video.

    are you using a gopro?

  • @cmason87 contourHD1080P, made by VHoldr. Set per slowroadie's findings (youtube user). Edited at full size, and uploaded at full size. Actual clip is over 700 MB, from 4 GB of raw data.

I find this camera to have the best resolution, bar none, for small helmet cams.

and thanks for the comment :)

  • Awesome!!!

  • Great video! The commentary makes it.

  • Awesome ride!

  • @ptle Short legs, long torso. Arms are normal though :) When I sit down I'm really, really tall, like on a plane or bus. When I stand up, I'm not that tall anymore.

  • @SprinterDellaCasa 40cm seat tube, but 56.6cm top tube? You either have really short legs, long arms, or a really compact frame.

  • Awesome! I've just bought my racing license (bit late, yeah) and this kind of thing's a real inspiration.

  • Nice video and nice race. You played it just right. Moved up at the end and sling shotted off the Medic boys and ol' yellow shoes.

  • its nice that it is in HD
