Very cool , but this song is originally by Freddie Hubbard , pretty much in the same style Soil & Pimp recorded.

haha you caught me. we have some more audio but alas no more video ;)
definitely putting more up after exams, so subscribe to the channel! :)

are you the sax player in the video? =)
Anyway, no offence meant by my previous comment; you guys are definitely on the right track and can only get better. Red Clay is one of my favourite tunes. keep up the good work and post more recordings; i will be looking forward to them. Cheers.

although I will admit you personally are a fairly decent bassist so your comments in this area are qualified ;)
however it has been a year, which is a long time in the development of a young instrumentalist, so it is unlikely whatever input you have to give concerning this recording hasn't been noted :)

I would like to clarify by saying a self-described "14 year old self-taught keys player" who obviously can't remember rudimentary grammar is unlikely to be able to criticize other, obviously more talented musicians making what appears to be a first foray into the 'death-jazz' style of Soil & "PIMP" Sessions, which is undeniably a hard feat to accomplish.

Yes, Soil and Pimp did a cover of the song Red Clay in their album. They then did another version of the song with Jose James. But even if you guys meant to replicate a particular *version of the song, it is still polite (and right) to credit Freddie Hubbard somewhere at least.

Surely you can't expect to put your music up and then just dismiss criticism that you don't like? Trust me, we KNOW this is not a professional recording, nor a professional band. And if you want to avoid comments about any instruments sounding weak, then maybe you should rethink the position of the camera? Lastly, i have some trouble with your idea of who is 'qualified' to 'criticize' music. Would you care to clarify?

sounds great for your ages! keep it up dudes

Well if it was good I would of said it was good.
good effort, still sounds crap. Bass player has the rough feel tho and some good stuff from the drummer. A lot of it was out of time, the horns were weak, rhythm sped up so the groove wasn't there anymore and visually there wasn't much energy or excitement. 2/5

Thanks very much, you have to keep in mind that
1. this isn't a proffessional recording, it's just on a sony handycam.
2. The horns are infront of the camera therefore the sound of them is weak, whereas in the front they sounded phat.
3. The youngest member of the band is 14 and the oldest 16, hardly a proffesional band.
4. you are hardly qualified to criticize music and say it is crap.

this song is called park bench people

you are right, the ORIGINAL is called Park Bench People by Jose James. However, the added horns and faster tempo are a cover of the soil and pimp sessions version (also featuring Jose James)
Cheers for the comment though
