What I found horrible about the actual case it was based on is that Genie not only is raised in abuse for 13 years but is abused repeatedly in different foster homes. you would think the assignment of her foster parents would be careful thought out and monitored

We watched the beginning of this in Psychology today, and some of the quotes from the psychologists are real! I want to see this movie.

@greatestxgift At the time I only knew her name as Genie, after doing more research on it though I found her real name. Either way if you look up 'genie the wild child' you'd still get all the information you would if you looked up Susan Wiley. So instead of scrolling through comments made years ago about information, you would notice the fact that someone else has already presented the fact the Katie-Genie's real name is Susan Wiley.

My comment was over a year ago no need to go get so defensive now. -_-; Seriously, my sociology professor had taught us that the girls' name or her alias was genie i already know that her real name is Susan Wiley. I wasn't ignorantly perpetuating information. I was interested in the case and i wanted to present more information on the movie so others would get more curious as well.

@JuDith868 yeah, sort of. It's not really porn-like or anything, but they talk about her masturbating and all. She flirts with some busdriver in a way that is totally unrealistic for a girl like her, and when she is in a car one time you see her fumbling in her crotch. All of this is NOT shown in the documentaries and is NOT based on reality

I am seeing this film in my Dutch class right now and I am sick of it. I find the story terribly sad and all, but this film is almost the worst I've ever seen. Genie is painted off as a crazy animalistic creature (who only ever seems to masturbate in public), while she is a human, and even still alive. If you want to know about her I suggest you watch the bbc documentary or smt. this film would only make you puke in disgust

movie was so sad. and messed up. if u see the movie ud see why she was locked away but the dad was totally effed up
